HELP FOR THOSE WHO HELP

Guardianship and conservatorship are legal protections for individuals who can no longer care for themselves or their assets, differentiating between the two relationships. Courts appoint a “guardian” or “conservator” to make decisions related to an individual’s well-being and to prevent unnecessary crisis or failures that could negatively impact the individual. This appointment can be for advancing age, physical or mental disability, incapacitating illnesses or minors. Additionally, the appointed guardian or conservator is held to reporting requirements mandated by the court regarding managing the ward’s affairs. We understand that seeking guardianship and conservatorship is a serious decision with long-term impacts on all parties, and will advise with caution, consideration and compassion for everyone involved.
